18 Jun 2011 – London (Saturday)

Today we are going to take it a bit easier by starting our day trip downtown a bit later.   This gave me a chance to catch up on my blog and Wes was able to take a morning nap.  He is doing great but still tires after long days.

At breakfast we had a fellow guest join us at our table and had a great chat.  He is from Ireland, currently living in Scotland and down in London for work for a few days.  We learned a great deal about the impact of the ECU from his perspective which was enlightening.

We then headed downtown to Trafalgar Square where the “West End Live 2011” is happening.   The 2 day event is presented by Westminster City Council and the Society of London Theatre.  West End LIVE showcases the quality and diversity of entertainment presently playing in the heart of London and promotes the West End as an exciting venue for all the family – all live, all for free.  At least 20 different plays are given a short slot of time to present a small piece of the performance on stage giving all those watching a taste of the theatre play.   We were able to see bits of “Legally Blonde”, “Betty Blue Eyes”, “Chicago” and “We Will Rock You” (which was ironic since we were on our way to see the show in the afternoon)
We headed in to have a look at the National Gallery for a quick look around.  We really were just filling in time until it was time to head to the theatre.

“We Will Rock You” was an exciting and interesting musical show based on the music of Queen.  The tickets were Wes’ birthday present since he is a Queen’s fan.  We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves listening to the music, watching the dancers and following the interesting story line.

We finished our day by heading back to the hotel.  Today the weather has really been mixed with everything from sunny periods to rain.  The cool weather is not pleasant.
