Today was not exciting. It was not reflective or informative. It was not exhausting. BUT it was relaxing.
We started the day with a slow start and the laundry. Our first realization was that since today is a National Holiday in Belgium our landlord may not be available to get the coins for the laundry room. Fortunately he was at his desk when I popped down and so our laundry plans were put into place.
The laundry room has a front loader washing machine and we spent some time guessing what settings to use and get it going. The first challenge is always the settings on the dials which are very different than what we are used to seeing. The second challenge is to get the timing right. Today we actually timed the washing machine to complete the cycle (and it only took us 3 trips down the laundry room to get it right) and it took about 85 minutes. Then we got the clothes into the dryer which only took another 90 minutes.
As a result we really did have a leisurely morning just doing the laundry so it was very relaxing.
After lunch, and the laundry, we had decided today to go to the OCÉADE – Brussels family water Attraction Park. Although this is a bit pricey we decided that it would be fun to enjoy the afternoon in a sauna, hot tubs, swimming pools and, if we are interested, waterslides. We spend almost 90 minutes at the park and it was very relaxing. No we did not go on any of the slides since the place was really busy with families (and kids)…did I mention there were lots of kids? I guess since today is a holiday and the weather is a bit overcast, the park was a favourite pastime for the citizens.
So as I said, today was not tiring, challenging or academically challenging. But it was relaxing. Today was our last day in Belgium and continental Europe. Tomorrow we are taking the Chunnel to London for our two weeks in England.
